CARMEL, Ind. — James Garner’s Tribute to Johnny Cash brings its nationally touring production to the Payne & Mencias Palladium at the Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m.
“We’re excited to bring our show back to Carmel,” Garner said. “We had amazing crowds the last few times, and we look forward to seeing everyone again.”
For nearly two decades, Garner and his band have recreated the sound and stories of Johnny Cash. The production holds the distinction of being the most recorded Cash tribute in the U.S., with direct ties to history: the group performed inside Folsom State Prison in 2008 to mark the 40th anniversary of Cash’s live album, and headlined the 50th anniversary celebration in 2018 alongside Cash’s daughter, Tara Cash, and original journalist Gene Beley.
Audiences can expect timeless hits including “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Ring of Fire” and “I Walk the Line.”
“Our performance is more than playing the hits,” Garner said. “It’s about sharing the history behind the music—who Cash was, what he stood for, and how his songs still resonate today.”
